Your child’s first morning at WSSD — with you right beside them.

Morning Glory is a weekly parent-and-child class in San Diego — song, play, and the gentle rhythm of a Waldorf classroom, for little ones aged 12 to 37 months and a grown-up together. For your little one, it is a morning of play and wonder. For you, it is a first, easy look at how WSSD holds a child — and a chance to be right there for it.

A class keeps the same gentle rhythm every week — the kind a small child quickly comes to trust: a welcome song, time to play, a snack shared at a low table, a story, a goodbye verse. You are beside your child throughout; no drop-off, no rush. In that one easy hour, you both come to feel what a Waldorf morning is, rather than be told.

What Morning Glory is

A gentle first step — for child and parent both

Morning Glory lets you experience a Waldorf classroom firsthand — not on a tour, but in it, with your child — long before any decision about enrolling.

Experience Morning Glory

What a morning looks like

A Morning Glory class follows the same gentle, predictable rhythm a young child thrives on. There is time for free play with simple, natural toys, and a circle of songs, verses, and lap games led by the teacher. There is a warm snack the group shares together. And throughout, there is the unhurried, screen-free atmosphere that defines a Waldorf early childhood classroom — the same one your child would know if they continued into Nursery and Kindergarten.

Classes run about one to two hours, depending on the age of the children, and meet once a week through the session.

A community from the start

You meet other families at the same stage, and a teacher who can answer the real questions of early parenting. Many friendships begin here, in the Morning Glory circle.

A gentle rhythm for your child

Song, play, and a predictable weekly rhythm give your little one a calm, screen-free first experience of being part of a group.

How to join

We offer Morning Glory sessions in the fall, spring, and summer, with registration typically opening two months before each session begins. Classes are small and tend to fill quickly, often with a waiting list, so it is worth inquiring early.

To join, or to ask about the current session’s schedule and fees, complete the inquiry form or contact the school office at (619) 280-8016. We would love to welcome you and your little one.

The best way to understand a Waldorf education is to see it.

Tours run regularly throughout the school year — about 60 to 90 minutes, with time to ask the questions a website can’t answer.
